By Echo Huang, CFA, CFP®, CPA

As my company successfully expands, I am pleased to welcome Amy Ng and Jared Johnson as the newest additions to our team. Both Amy and Jared started working here on June 11, 2018 and they are in training to be Associate Wealth Manager, overseeing and enhancing the Echo Dashboard and designing customized financial plans for clients.

These two distinguished individuals are passionate about serving people and they have various skills and strengths that will bring our company’s personalized services to a higher level.

Amy joins EWM with seven years’ experience in client administration, with three of those years specific to finance management. She graduated from Metropolitan State University Summa Cum Laude in 2017 with a BS in Finance. Amy currently studies for her MBA at Hamline University.

Jared is a recent graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota where he competed in NCAA hockey and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2018 with dual Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Finance and Business Intelligence & Analytics.

They will enroll in a CFP® certification program soon to obtain comprehensive study of all areas of financial planning in order to become a CFP® practitioner in two to three years.

Let's learn more about Jared in addition to reading his bio.  He's answered these five questions I asked him this week:

  1. What excites you the most about your work?
Simply put, I get excited about the opportunity to serve clients in a way in which optimizes their financial lives. I embrace analytical thinking and am excited to combine that with ongoing assistance so that our clients can have peace of mind.
  2. Personal pursuits?
I consider myself to be “retired” from hockey following the end of my NCAA career now but plan on playing in adult hockey leagues to cure my competitive itch. In the meantime, I try to exercise daily and enjoy playing tennis and golf when I find the time. Coaching hockey and becoming a scout for either an NCAA team or junior team is also something I am interested in pursuing as I become more settled in the Twin Cities area.
  3. What does your DiSC Personality Profile tell about you?
My DiSC style is purely C. As a pure C, I value accuracy and take a logical approach to everything I do. Control and stability are at the forefront of my work. I prefer in-depth problem solving and very much value reasoning and analysis as a C style. I appreciate precision and prefer to work in a quiet and reserved environment.
  4. If you were not working in the field of personal wealth management, what type of work would you choose to do?
Stemming from my lifelong interest in the sport of hockey and more specifically, the NHL, I would choose to pursue an assistant GM or head GM job with an NHL team. I enjoy the idea of strategically creating a team while dealing with the pressures of a salary cap and maintain a winning environment. I am intrigued by the thought of making trades and drafting players that best fit the organization.
  1. Which one is your favorite vacation and why?
I thoroughly enjoyed my two trips to Florida. I went to Miami in 2016 and Fort Lauderdale in 2018. I, along with some of my good friends from college, enjoy electronic music and playing sports on the beach and was able to enjoy those activities on both trips. Those two cities draw a lot of well-known music producers and DJs so it was fantastic to see some of my favorite artists. Playing beach volleyball, soccer, and football was a blast as well.
